The process consists of: (1) Submitting architectural/MEP drawings and load calculations for DEWA design NOC; (2) Coordinating the 11kV transformer room civil and ventilation details; (3) Preparing and submitting the Single Line Diagram (SLD) for approval; (4) Installing approved switchgear, earthing, and containment; (5) Submitting the technical completion certificate; (6) Passing the DEWA site engineer's physical inspection; and (7) Settling connection charges followed by meter installation and live power energisation.

DEWA regulations mandate that building power factor be maintained at 0.95 or higher. Low power factor caused by inductive loads (chiller compressors, pump motors, transformers) draws reactive current, wasting electrical capacity and generating utility penalty surcharges on electricity bills. Automatic capacitor banks dynamically correct the power factor.

Sandwich busbar trunking requires significantly less shaft space than dozens of heavy XLPE cables, exhibits lower voltage drop over long vertical runs, and allows convenient plug-in tap-off boxes on every floor. It also delivers superior short-circuit fault ratings and simplifies future tenant power upgrades.

Self-contained lights carry individual NiCd/lithium batteries inside each fixture, which deteriorate quickly under Dubai's high ambient temperatures and require individual testing. A Central Battery System (CBS) powers all emergency and exit luminaires from a central air-conditioned battery room, featuring automated addressable testing, 10-year+ battery life, and complete compliance with Dubai Civil Defence regulations.

Prior to DEWA inspection and energisation, we perform: (1) Megger insulation resistance testing (1000V/2500V); (2) High-pot dielectric withstand tests; (3) Contact resistance (ducter) tests on circuit breaker poles and busbar joints; (4) Primary and secondary current injection tests on protection relays; (5) Earth electrode resistance fall-of-potential tests; and (6) Phase rotation and polarity verification.
